Women’s Podium Update: Jeremy Briand and Karol-Ann Roy Win National Triathlon Championships in Kelowna

On behalf of everyone at Triathlon Canada, we regret to inform the community of an error that was made in the awarding of the women’s National Triathlon Championship podium, which was held in conjunction with the CAMTRI races on Sunday in Kelowna.

Karol-Ann Roy remains the 2019 Canadian Champion after being the first Canadian to cross the line, finishing in fifth place overall with a time of 59:12. The silver- and bronze-medal positions were wrongfully distributed on Sunday.  Kyla Roy (Winnipeg), who finished sixth overall at 59:22, is the silver medallist. Ellen Pennock (Calgary) was the third Canadian to cross the line, finishing in seventh place at 59:24, giving her the bronze medal. Kyla Roy was also the Women’s Under-23 National Champion.

We apologize for this mistake and thank each of the athletes, along with Triathlon Manitoba, Triathlon Quebec and Triathlon Alberta for your understanding. We would like to congratulate all of the athletes and coaches for a great weekend of racing and sportsmanship.
