VICTORIA—Triathlon Canada is transitioning into its next chapter with Rachel Macatee taking the reins of the organization as its new chief executive officer, bringing proven leadership, a track record of organizational growth and a deep understanding of the people and programs that have successfully driven the sport forward.
Since stepping into the interim ceo role in February 2026, Macatee has guided Triathlon Canada through an exciting period for the organization, maintaining operational continuity, increasing revenues, leading the return of racing to Victoria for the Canadian Championships, navigating governance and leadership transitions, and managing international issues affecting the triathlon community.
“Rachel is a knowledgeable, dedicated and forward-thinking leader who brings the experience, drive and relationships needed to lead Triathlon Canada,” said Sasha Beck, president, Triathlon Canada. “She has a deep understanding of our sport and the opportunities and challenges facing a national non-profit sport organization. Her ability to balance the day-to-day demands of running the organization with a broader vision for the future, combined with the strong relationships she has built across Canada and internationally, makes her exceptionally well suited to this role. We are excited to have Rachel lead Triathlon Canada and look forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen our sport.”
Macatee began her career in triathlon in event operations in 2012 and joined Triathlon Canada in August 2017. She assumed leadership of the sport development team in early 2018 and has since helped evolve and strengthen programs across the organization, including domestic hosting of national and international events, the National Development Series and camp programs, Age Group World Championship teams, coach development and certification, national technical officials education, youth participation and Safe Sport integration.
Her experience spans all facets of the organization, including serving as team manager for Canada’s Paralympic triathlon program through the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games quadrennials. This breadth of experience, combined with her knowledge of Triathlon Canada’s operations and relationships with stakeholders across the sport, positions Macatee well to lead the organization into its next chapter.
“I have been fortunate to build my career with Triathlon Canada, and I am honoured to step into this leadership position,” said Macatee. “Triathlon is blessed with an amazing community of athletes, coaches, officials, race organizers, volunteers and administrators. My 14 years working in this sport have provided incredibly rewarding opportunities to work with this community, both here in Canada and around the world. Thank you in particular to the Triathlon Canada staff and Board, along with our colleagues in the provincial offices, for your trust and support. It is a very exciting time in the Canadian sport system, and I am looking forward to what comes next.”
In her new leadership position, Macatee will continue to oversee operations, planning, financial management, partner relations, communications and the delivery of Triathlon Canada’s programs, working in alignment with the strategic direction established by the Board of Directors.
Macatee’s appointment provides continuity and experienced leadership as Triathlon Canada works collaboratively with its provincial sport partners, and the broader triathlon community, to strengthen participation, support athletes and coaches in pursuit of their performance goals, while building a strong future for the sport across Canada.
