VICTORIA—Triathlon Canada and Jim Pattison Subaru Victoria are driving into a new era together, announcing a partnership that unites the two organizations commitment to adventure, healthy living and building stronger communities through sport.
As part of the agreement, Jim Pattison Subaru Victoria has been named the Official Vehicle Partner of the 2026 Triathlon Canada National Championships, which is returning to Victoria, August 22-23. It will be the first time Triathlon Canada has staged an event in its home city in more than a decade.
“Subaru has been woven into the fabric of triathlon in Canada for decades, making this a truly natural partnership,” said Rachel Macatee, interim chief executive officer, Triathlon Canada. “As we continue to grow our National Championships and build our long-term hosting strategy, we’re excited to welcome a trusted Canadian brand that shares our commitment to active lifestyles, community and excellence. Together, we’ll create an even stronger championship experience in a remarkable setting on Vancouver Island while inspiring Canadians of all ages to embrace the sport of triathlon.”
The partnership opens a new chapter as Triathlon Canada makes event hosting a core part of its long-term strategy, creating meaningful experiences for athletes, families and communities across the country – whether they are pursuing Olympic or Paralympic dreams, or discovering their limits through fun and fitness.
Triathletes and Subaru owners share a common DNA. They are adventurous, driven and health-conscious Canadians who embrace challenges, explore new roads and demand performance in every aspect of their lives. Together, Triathlon Canada and Subaru Canada will celebrate that shared spirit while strengthening one of Canada’s most passionate sporting communities.
“Our partnership with Triathlon Canada reflects Subaru Canada’s commitment to supporting active lifestyles and building strong communities,” said Derek Sewagudde-Peden, Jim Pattison Subaru Victoria. “Triathlon participants and Subaru owners share many of the same values—adventure, perseverance, wellness and a love of the outdoors. We’re proud to support the return of the National Championships to Victoria and look forward to connecting with Canada’s vibrant triathlon community.”
While triathlon remains one of Canada’s youngest Olympic and Paralympic sports, Subaru has a long and valued history with triathlon in Canada as the sport has grown from grassroots participation to producing Olympic and Paralympic medalists.
The partnership was reunited as Triathlon Canada prepares to welcome athletes from across the country back to Victoria for the 2026 National Championships. Hosted at Clover Point Park and along the scenic Dallas Road waterfront, the reimagined two-day festival of racing will feature Canada’s Elite National Championships, Age Group races, Mixed Relay competitions, Kids of K-OS races, a community 5K and Splash N’ Dash, creating opportunities for Canadians of all ages and abilities to experience the sport.
Designed around a fast, spectator-friendly super sprint format, the championship weekend will showcase Canada’s top Olympic hopefuls while introducing new athletes and families to triathlon in a fun, welcoming environment.
“Victoria has long been one of Canada’s most iconic triathlon destinations, making it the perfect place to showcase what our National Championships can become,” added Macatee. “This championship is about much more than racing for an elite national title. It’s about bringing together our entire triathlon community – from kids and adults experiencing the sport for the first time, to age-group athletes challenging themselves, to new Canadians being introduced to swim, bike run to Canada’s triathletes competing at the highest level. Subaru Canada shares our vision for what this championship can become – a celebration of community, competition and high performance – so we’re excited to build that future together.”
