Les Pereira has stepped down as volunteer President of Triathlon Canada’s Board of Directors after serving on the Board since 2013 and as President since 2016 when he was counted on to help guide the organization through a time of transition.
In his five years as President, the Richmond, B.C. resident played a critical role in rebuilding the national sport organization. Pereira assembled a new leadership team of staff committed to creating an even stronger and more promising future while implementing and following a strategic road map that put a focus on excellence in sport and business.
Working with a diverse Board of Directors and Staff, Pereira leaves Triathlon Canada having helped create financial stability and a new culture of excellence and accountability throughout the organization – both on the field of play and in the boardroom.
A passionate triathlete himself, Pereira has done some heavy lifting for the sport in Canada. He has also helped shape the development pathway for many young triathletes while serving on the Triathlon B.C. Board, and as President of the Pacific Spirit Triathlon Club before joining Triathlon Canada.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, coaches and athletes, we thank Les Pereira for his tireless commitment to growing the sport of triathlon across the country.
The Board of Directors will announce a new President within the next two weeks.
