VICTORIA—Canada’s triathletes will dive into the 2018 season with Zone3 and Innovation Sports following a new partnership struck between the world-renowned wetsuit provider and Triathlon Canada on Monday.
Triathlon Canada has inked a three-year deal with Zone3, which is one of the top triathlon brands in the world, and its Canadian distributor Innovation Sports to become the Official Wetsuit Sponsor of the national body.
“Triathlon Canada and Zone3 share a common goal: to be the best in the world,” said Kim Van Bruggen, chief executive officer, Triathlon Canada. “Zone3 is amongst the top performers in the world that has strong connections in Canada, including many triathletes currently in our high-performance program. We are thrilled to have them expand their reach across the country while joining our team’s quest for the international podium.”
As part of the deal, Innovation Sports will distribute Zone3’s award-winning wetsuits to athletes enrolled in Triathlon Canada’s National Performance Centre in Victoria, Development and Para-Team athletes. Athletes will also receive swim caps along with Attack open water race goggles, and Volare racing goggles for pool swim training. Triathlon Canada members will also receive discounts and be part of special promotions throughout the year.
“The athlete is at the heart of every product we develop so we are thrilled to be able to suit up many of Canada’s best triathletes with swimwear products that are critical to their success,” said Antoine Paradis from the Quebec City-based Innovation Sports, who will lead the distribution of the product to Triathlon Canada.
“Our product was built by athletes for athletes – that is who we live for. We take great pride in developing strong relationships with the athletes by seeking their input and feedback into our design, in an effort to deliver the training and racing accessories they need to achieve their personal goals, and be the best they can be, regardless of what level they are at in the performance pathway,” said James Lock, founder of Zone3.
Canadian triathletes are no strangers to the Zone3 brand. Three of Canada’s top athletes based in Quebec – Alexis Lepage, Xavier Grenier-Talavera and Charles Paquet are already using Zone3 wetsuits. Two of Canada’s top age group distance triathletes – Frank Sorbara and David Lacombe have also been diving into waters around the world in Zone3 wetsuits.
“There are many pieces that make up the path to the podium. We recognize the importance of perfecting each one of these steps if we truly want to provide our athletes with the opportunity to compete with the world’s best,” added Van Bruggen. “Triathlons cannot be won in the swim, but they definitely can be lost. Zone3 and Innovation Sports will play a key role in helping Canadian triathletes charge into first transition as the leaders at races around the globe.”
