On behalf of Triathlon Canada and our provincial sport partners, we want to provide an update on our continued cooperation through the COVID-19 pandemic.
We understand that with some provinces starting to look at easing of self-isolation guidelines along with the increasingly warmer weather it is natural to feel the pull to return to regular spring/summer training programs and activities.
However, it is important to remember at this time the pandemic has not run its course, and you should continue to follow the guidelines provided by Health Canada and your provincial chief medical officers in order to ensure that we can all resume regular activity in a safe manner together.
Triathlon Canada, along with our provincial sport organizations, are in regular communication and cooperating on the strategy for managing through our return to sport. We also continue to review the status of the pandemic and address concerns that arise from each region while supporting each other in navigating through these unprecedented times.
We expect that when competitions return in 2020, it will likely happen in some of the provinces where the pandemic curve has been successfully flattened and stopped and it will involve looking at seeing how to create the competitions in a safe manner and still respect the new social distancing rules. It will only happen if the local health authorities deem it possible.
Although all provinces may not be able to resume the same level of activity and openness at the same pace, we do stand together in our request to have all athletes, coaches, officials, race directors, remain in their home provinces for training, and eventually competition, until it is deemed safe for provinces to open their competitions and training facilities to athletes outside their provincial borders. “Do local” may become our theme for the summer of 2020.
We all have a role to play to keep our sport, and Canada going. No contribution to our sport is small – you are all valued members of the Triathlon Canada Nation, and on behalf of our sport’s leadership group across each province, we say Thank You once again!
The flexibility and resiliency you have all shown as we navigate through changes to our work, training and competitive environments has been nothing less than inspiring.
We are all in this together. And we will come through this together! We would love to hear from you and understand better what we can do for our community as we come through this difficult season. We have created a quick survey and hope you will take a few minutes to share your thoughts.

Until we are permitted to see all of you at the start line, please stay healthy. Stay safe. And continue to #Triathathome #Triathalone.
