Triathlon’s debut at the 2000 Sydney Olympic games, which culminated with Simon Whitfield’s gold medal, springboarded Canada onto the world stage. This “big bang” moment, along with our National Team’s continued success, has set the standard that Triathlon Canada – and the rest of the world – measures itself against. As a result, Triathlon Canada’s National Team has always held places for athletes competing at the highest level in both the standard distance and sprint distances while vying for podium performances at the World Championships and Olympic/Paralympic Games.
