Desirae Ridenour

National Development Team
Height: 171 cm
Date of Birth: December 5, 1999
Birth Place: Duncan, BC

Desirae grew up playing a variety of sports including soccer, field hockey, swimming cross country running, track and field, and of course, triathlon.

Her career kicked off while trying to keep up with her older sister, Christine. Desirae joined the local swim club in Duncan when she was five and did her first triathlon in Qualicum shortly after.

She has never looked back. During her elementary school days, Desirae joined KKT where she was coachd by Kelly Guest, and continued with the program until the fall of 2015 when she moved to the National Performance Centre in Victoria to work with Jono Hall. Desirae enjoyed a breakout year in 2017 where she captured the world’s attention with two international junior titles in addition to a silver medal in the junior category of the Duathlon World Championships. The 2017 Junior Canadian Champ also won three Canada Games titles. Desirae took another major step forward in her development in 2018 when she represented Canada at the Commonwealth Games, and was part of Canada’s silver-medal winning mixed relay squad at the 2019 Pan American Games.

Still very active in soccer, Desirae decided to put all of her other sport passions on the sidelines in 2015 to focus solely on being a triathlete. Desirae started at the University of Victoria in the fall. Her family is very active – having cycled many of times across Europe including The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, Hungary, Slovakia, Denmark and France. These family trips, which are her fondest childhood memories, were filled with adventure!
