Sophia Howell

Date of Birth: | March 2, 2002 |
Birth Place: | Calgary, AB |
Residence: | Victoria, BC |
Sophia entered the sport of triathlon from soccer and lacrosse pitches which he played competitively in addition to playing traditional school sports like volleyball and basketball. She was introduced to triathlon by her mom when she was 14. Her mom, who she cites as her hero, was starting to train to hit the start line for a couple of triathlons herself. Sophia joined Kronos Triathlon Cup shortly thereafter, and learned how to swim, bike and run where she quickly fell in love with the sport. Sophia started racing competitively in 2018 and has never looked back. Triathlon is the focus of her life and has relocated her west to Victoria where she is a member of the National Performance Centre.
When not training, Sophia also balances her time going to school at the Pacific Design Academy where she is currently studying interior design part-time. When she does have free time, she loves returning home to Calgary and spending time with family.
Did You Know…need a party trick? Sophia can juggle! She loves her dog more than most people and loves to race in the electricity of the European crowds. She says competing at the 2023 World Champions is her greatest moment in the sport thanks to the huge crowds in Potevedra, Spain cheering the athletes on.
