NEW! Super Sprint & Relay National Championships Victoria

Triathlon Canada’s National Championship Program

Triathlon Canada is building something special in our home-town of Victoria – a consistent season finale that brings athletes, fans, and the triathlon community together. This race will be a lasting celebration of our sport and its growth across Canada.

Victoria provides a truly epic landscape for triathletes. Beyond the mild climate and easy access to beautiful places to swim, bike, and run that already draw many to the region; the City of Victoria knocks an extensive list of ideal hosting conditions out of the park. Seamlessly blending our sport into a vibrant urban center while still offering a high quality experience across the board is no small feat! Enter Victoria.

The core of our little island city has it all and more: a premier destination location; a challenging, exciting, and highly spectator-friendly racecourse; a convenient and walkable race venue; easy access to varied accommodation options; lots of great restaurants and amenities; and a huge array of additional leisure activities!

Join us for the 2026 Season Finale on August 22nd & 23rd!

The Super Sprint & Relay National Championships will focus on short-course racing and blending elite and age group programs. Super sprint triathlon has traditionally been the arena of newcomers dipping their toes in the triathlon pool. This has changed dramatically with the addition of the mixed relay discipline to the Olympic program and World Triathlon Championship Series. Super sprint is high octane, pedal-to-the-metal racing that demands precision and leaves no margin for error. What makes this distance so special is that it can be both: a serious challenge and an inviting entry point for athletes of all abilities.

This new event will join our confirmed slate of National Championship events across Canada that span all the triathlon and multisport disciplines.  Check out the following events from our calendar page:

Triathlon National Championships – Kelowna, BC
Age Group Sprint Triathlon, Standard Triathlon, & Standard Aquabike

Open Para & Multisport National Championships- Edmonton, AB

Racing Programs:

Elite Program

Elite National Championships:

Triathlon Canada’s goal for the elite program is simple: deliver lots of head-to-head racing. The individual event will follow a heats/finals format over the super sprint distance featuring fast, compact bike and run courses with tight loops that will allow athletes to see – and respond to – every move on course.

Junior/U23 Mixed Relay National Championships:

Mixed Relay National Championships are returning to the championship program!  Provincial teams will be formed by each Provincial Sport Organization to compete for the top spot in the country.

Age Group Program

Triathlon Canada’s goal is to create an offering of events that will allow participants to race more than once over the event weekend. A full slate of community programs is also under development, but the core events will be:

Super Sprint Triathlon National Championships:

Age group athletes will race on the same course as the elite competition in a draft-legal format. This provides a unique and rare opportunity to experience an elite course and the excitement of draft-legal racing! Get ready for something really special.

Mixed Relay National Championships:

Teams are made up of four athletes – two women and two men. Each athlete completes the full super sprint triathlon before tagging off to the next athlete on their team with a woman leading off the race and a man anchoring it. This spectator-friendly event has become a highlight at Age Group World Championships and is always a fan favourite. Few events are available in this format currently, so it provides a great opportunity for Canadian age group athletes to jump in and give team triathlon a go – in other words #TRITHIS!

Both of these events will have qualification opportunities to join Team Canada for the Age Group World Championships the following year. Team Canada ranks among the world’s top five largest squads for World Championship events. We will have more than 600 members in 2026 travelling to international competitions.

Community Program

Our community events portfolio is still in transition, please check back soon!

Para Triathlon Demonstration Event:

Triathlon Canada has a small but mighty para triathlon program. Stefan Daniel has two Paralympic medals to his name along with 6 World Championship titles in the men’s PTS5 standing class. Leanne Taylor stormed onto the scene in Paris and took home a Paralympic bronze medal in the women’s PTWC1 wheelchair class.

We have some talented new athletes coming into the mix as we head into the next Games quadrennial. There is a great opportunity to showcase these athletes and continue to drive exposure for para sport with the broader community. With a small group of athletes across a wide range of classes we are going to get creative and find a new way to integrate para triathlon and highlight these talented athletes both in our elite and community competitions.

The Course

The racecourse will be centered around Victoria’s beautiful Clover Point. With epic views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, this is a prime destination for locals and tourists alike. Athletes will launch their race with a swim off Spiral Beach – an area popular with recreational swimmers, paddlers, and kiteboarders for it’s clear water, pebble beach, and vibrant ecosystem. The bike course will be a fast and furious multi-lap track along the famous Dallas Road waterfront with the grand finale featuring a run through Clover Point Park before hitting a truly spectacular finish line framed by ocean views and mountain peaks.
