SportsShare to Provide Online Learning and Coaching Opportunities for Triathlon Canada Nation

VICTORIA—Triathlon Canada will look to strengthen the connection of its community across the country while proving members with shared information and learning opportunities at their fingertips in 2024, thanks to a new partnership established with SportsShare.

The British Columbia-based IT start-up is the first knowledge share and community platform built specifically to connect sports participants with equitable access to highly personalized content from the world’s best educators in their chosen sport.

“After my career playing NCAA and professional hockey, I committed myself to giving back to the sport I Ioved and sports in general that had given so much to me.  As a new coach I joined the countless other members of our communities that volunteer and empower all levels of sport and soon realized the resources available to me or how I accessed what was available, was underwhelming at best.  I knew there had to be a better way to exchange knowledge and information to benefit everyone involved in sports,” said Alan Schuler, Co-Founder, President, and CEO of SportsShare.

“Numerous factors, including gender, income, and location, hinder access to high-quality, trusted information and affordable, personalized coaching. These factors continue to separate sports enthusiasts of all ages from the resources they require. By establishing partnerships like the one with Triathlon Canada, our goal is to support athletes and coaches at every level, providing personalized and affordable access to high quality training and information from the world’s top triathlon educators.” Schuler adds.

SportsShare has engaged two-time Olympic medallist, Simon Whitfield, as a special advisor to the team tasked with providing experience and intel specific to the triathlon community on SportsShare.

Over the next nine months, Triathlon Canada will work with its provincial sport partners through the summer of 2023 to build an online community where a wide array of information, from how to get involved in the sport, to training and coaching tips, to race opportunities and general triathlon information, will be readily available to all members.

Subscribers will have unlimited access to the content specific to their sport. This content is carefully vetted, ensuring a high-quality personalized experience.

“It is our belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, connect and play. SportsShare will help Triathlon Canada break down barriers across the country and make this a reality for our community regardless of where your start line is in the sport – be it chasing Olympic or Paralympic performance goals, or simply to discover what you’re made of,” said Joe Morissette, Chief Executive Officer, Triathlon Canada. “We feel SportsShare will help further connect all of us in the Triathlon Canada Nation who share a passion for the simple acts of swimming, cycling and running, while also providing an easy opportunity for our chosen content creators to share their expertise with our community.”

Triathlon Canada, in collaboration with its provincial sport organizations, will connect with different stakeholder groups throughout the community including age group, high-performance and professional athletes, coaches and specialists to develop the educational channel, ensuring content is relevant for all members of the community.

The Triathlon Canada channel on SportsShare is expected to be available in January 2024. All members will receive limited access before subscribing to the channel.
