End Term: 2021
Committee: Board Chair
Les joined Triathlon Canada’s Board in 2013 and assumed the leadership role of the Triathlon Canada Nation in January 2016.
Les has done some heavy lifting for the sport of triathlon during his short tenure while serving on the Board of Triathlon Canada and his eight years with TriBC. Les served as president of TriBC from 2011-2015 where he was involved in a period major change – restructuring the organization’s Board while spearheading the development of two of the organization’s strategic plans. During his tenure, TriBC evolved from a sport on probation with the BC Summer Games to being ranked as the number-one summer sport, and eventually the top sport overall in the province in the SportBC five-point biannual review.
Les brought this success with him to the national body where he has played a leading role in shaping a new era for the sport of triathlon in Canada. Working with the dedicated board and staff, Les has fine- tuned the organization’s governance and helped lead the development of a new strategic plan.
Entrenched in Vancouver’s corporate community, Les has significant leadership experience both as the chairman of a partnership in a North American wide manufacturing company, and has been president of a volunteer professional technical association.
Triathlon has been a huge part of Les’ life – as an athlete, coach and official – since 1998. During that time he has completed three Ironmans, 19 Half Ironmans, more than a dozen standard distance and countless sprint triathlon races.
